Lord Browne saga takes bizarre txist

Tone's ringtone tale
Wed May 02 2007, 12:09
IN A BIZARRE twist to the sorry saga surrounding former BP CEO, Lord Browne's personal life, it's been revealed that the petrol man went into business as a ringtone vendor.

In an effort to help his lover, Jeff Chavalier - who is described as a Canadian computer programmer, Browne and two of his associates at BP, set up a company called Txist.

Despite their obvious business talents, Txist Limited, appears to have collapsed after a year. There's no trace of a ringtone site of that name and Txist.com sells nutritional products.

The three shareholders in Txist were Browne, Dr David Allen - BP group managing director and chief of staff and Richard Balzer, Lord Browne's private adviser and a BP consultant.

Txist was chosen as an obscure reference to well-known French crooner, Maurice Chavalier's Txist du Canotier, apparently.

Seems Lord Browne and his chums put their heads together and decided ringtones should make them a few bob. µ
