The thoughts of Chairman Mikey Dell

His little red book
Friday, 22 June 2001, 12:45
OUR THANKS TO READER Vegar Kleppe for translating a heap of stories in the Norwegian press about the thoughts of Mikey Dell, chairman of the Dell Corporation and a truly wonderful person.

These thoughts can be divided into Mikey's Likes and his Dislikes, says Vegar.

Michael Dell likes:
The Pentium 4
Win XP (Better multimedia, GUI, 2,5 sec boot-time, and because it needs a better CPU, i.e. Bloatware needs the P4)
(These two will help Dell become even more profitable by the end of the year)
Wireless WLAN (802.11), Internet-zones
PWAs which will come from Dell in 2004
The "Blade" rack concept and Transmeta in servers
Dell - because it is 50 per cent ahead of the other Dells of the world, is profitable, has only five days stock and has grown in the Norwegian server market by 182 per cent.

Michael Dell dislikes:
PDAs -- too many platforms plus he didn't think of the iPaq first
Dell's boring laptop design - 95 per cent of Dell's buyers don't care
Dotcoms - the biz still needs more bloodshed
AMD - no good server marchitecture

Michael Dell is indifferent to:
Microsoft versus the DOJ
McNealy's "Microsoft is a drugdealer"comment ยต
