Toshiba HD DVD consumer player out in November

IBC Amsterdam 2006 Around $500 SRP

WE SAW a Toshiba HD DVD player at Sonic Booth here at IBC 2006 conference in Amsterdam. Here, it is all about video, broadcasting and the like equipment, with some mobile stuff going on. Sonic was showcasing its HD DVD player and we saw a cartoon done in HD DVD quality. It looked great.

The best of all is it won't cost more than $500 and the company source suggested it will be launched in November, just at the right time for Yule shopping.

We saw a Sonic mastered Elephant's Dream cartoon and it looks great on HD DVD. Sonic is making the professional software that you need to encode your video in HD DVD or Blu-ray. Software is already available for more than a few months but it cost a fortune, its for a professional use only.

Sonic also endorsed Blu-ray as well. Here is how Toshiba's baby looks and we managed to snap some content as well. The irony is that it plays on a Sony display. µ
