Monday, 23 June 2008, 17:07

INTEL IS teaming up with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) to build a wireless mobile services R&D lab in the country.

Based in Riyadh, the labs purpose will be to provide the Arab parts of the Middle East, Turkey and Africa with Wimax broadband networks as well as services for wireless broadband service providers, telecom equipment manufacturers, and system integrators.

The facility's main function will be to plug Wimax, through client testing, getting interoperability validation on infrastructure equipment as well as pre-certification and experimentation with new Wimax services and apps.

Intel’s chairman, Craig Barrett, gushed, "We are confident that this lab will provide an excellent platform for Arab scientists and scholars to be innovative in the field of telecommunications and in particular in the WiMAX and networking arena." µ

What about intel employees?

What about intel employees? Would the israeli employees of intel be able to even set foot into this facility? I mean it will be an intel R&D lab but they wont be able to have their own employees come to that lab if they need a meeting or something.... lame.

"Israeli employees?" what do they have to do with this? The lab was built by "Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology" for Arabs, I don't get the "israeli employees?" thing. there are intel employees in most countries (including most of the middle east arab countries), why would there be any need for the israeli employees?

I don't know what you're talking about, there exist a number of award winning Arab scientist, some live in Arab countries, and some do not. Arab countries (or country back then) were once the science center point of the world, now it's the Japanese turn (i wouldn't consider it the U.S's turn since they use most of their knowledge/money building weapons, where the Japanese just keep making life better, easier and more fun).....
Mr." W.-" (whatever that is) I bet I would beat you in every aspect of what makes one human being better than another.

Finally (as a comment on the article itself), you should check your sources, this has been done a while back.
