UK firms face Blackberry law suits

EMPLOYERS in the UK are being warned they could face multi-million-pound legal actions from Blackberry-addicted staff.

According to the Independent on Sunday, more than a third of BlackBerry users showed signs of addictive behaviour similar to alcoholicism.

Professor Nada Kakabadse, who penned the study, said it was only a matter of time before companies faced lawsuits similar to those bought against tobacco companies.

Already there have been a few cases in the US where employers have been sued for marriages ending because addicted staff were too busy checking their emails.

Of course the tabloid press is rushing to dub the gadgets as Crackberries, although another boffin investigating the phenomena prefers to see them as comfort blankets.

Melissa Mazmanian reckons that a Black Barry fulfils the human need to reach out to others but also maintains a sense of control, unlike a telephone conversation.

Spouses find it frustrating and aggravating and to avoid problems couples have to negotiate rules and boundaries over use. Why not just nick the batteries?
