Microsoft supports open source Apache

Beware of Voles bearing gifts
Saturday, 26 July 2008, 09:15

MICROSOFT wowed the open-source community when it bestowed a gracious US$100,000 donation to the Apache Software Corporation.

The Redmond giant also noted that it was contributing code to support a project named ADOdb, which allows PHP-based applications to communicate with a wide variety of databases. In addition, Microsoft committed to offer royalty-free specifications for Windows Server and .NET Framework protocols.

The company already participates in an open-source project nicknamed RubySpec, which hopes to write a publishable specification for the Ruby programming language used in its .NET programming framework.

The Vole began to change its approach towards the open-source community in 2007, when it opened up various APIs to third-party use and pledged increased transparency in software development. µ

RIIIIIIGHT! We NEED MS!!???!!

To allow MS in among open source, is to allow the very ones whose stated mission is conquest! by any means. I have no desire to sound alarmist. But this company will Conquer, if it takes 50 years. Or longer. They want a hand in your business, ( recall them attempting to bankroll the latest SCO debacle??) and to be able to call the shots ( RULE, or CONTROL) at all costs.
You must remember....... These people are FOR REAL.
I'd be willing to do anything within reason to keep these corporate warmongers away from our beloved Linux/ BSD / Open Sauce table.
