Nvidia betas reveal new cards

Cryptic nomenclature ahoy

BETA DRIVERS FROM the eager-beaver technicians at Graphzilla have something of a cult following, with green team fanbois picking apart every minor release for hints about future updates and products. The latest, carrying the version number 174.93, carries a few hints.

The driver is dated April 13, and is the latest update after the 174.88 beta, which landed two days prior. We're not sure by what exacting methodology the green team increments its driver numbering, but obviously this latest one is exactly 0.05 better than the first one.

The news from the crack team of driver groupies is that the latest release carries product strings for as-yet-unannounced cards: a G94 9600 GS, G96 9500 GS, and G98 9300 GE and GS. Given the existing plethora of retail cards in the mid-low range from Nvidia, it's fair to assume that these are a bunch of variant OEM SKUs.

The leaked driver is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit XP and Vista iterations, and those with an inclination to give it a whirl will have some joy here. µ
