According to the Yoh Index of Technology Wages, hourly pay in the US increased by 3.1 per cent to an average of $30.27 per hour between October 10, 2005 and November 6, 2005.
What is absolutely astonishing is that with major economic setbacks, and the fact that a lot of the technology industry is headed off shore, some IT jobs are still in demand and making money. However, it is clear from the figures that only "high-impact technology professionals" are getting the extra dosh.
As can be expected the more esoteric stuff, which no one can really explain, is earning the most. SAP function consultants are earning on average $75.09. This means that even going to the toilet costs their companies $10. Possibly more if they take a newspaper in with them.
Data warehouse architects, CRM managers, hardware/firmware engineers and project managers are all in the top five.
According to Yoh, the top ten jobs with the highest demand by employers in the fourth quarter of 2005, together with their average hourly wages, are Clinical Research Associate@$38.52, Data Manager@$45.06, CRM Project Manager@$62.01, Data Warehouse Architect@$69.03, Hardware/Firmware engineer@$59.34, .NET Developer@$45.77, Oracle Database Administrator@$55.82, Project Manager@$57.07, SAP Functional Consultant@$75.09 and Senior Scientist@$43.76.
