Google buys into video conferencing

JOHN LENNON got into trouble for saying the Beatles were bigger than Jesus so let's be careful and just say that Google is the biggest thing in computing for a very long time.

The Mountain View monster notched up a $1 billion quarter's profit, as we noted earlier, and, as we didn't note earlier, at the same time quietly picked up a Swedish video conferencing firm called Marratech.

A lot of the telco firm efforts cost a fortune and want you to download more craplets so a pure web conferencing solution would be a very nice thing, especially if Google can give it away. Come on, G-men, this is a market that's wide open so go and do your disintermediation thing. µ
