Macworld surprise scuppered?
Thu Jan 03 2008, 10:16

AS APPLE FANS get ready to make the pilgrimage to the annual Steve Jobs love-in that is Macworld San Francisco, the big announcement of the day may already have been spoiled by intrepid photo snappers.

The ultra-portable Mac laptop has been on the cards ever since Apple killed off the 12-inch Powerbook, and the photo appears to show the much-rumoured device in a native environment. It looks super-thin and light, and has the oft-debated multi-touch trackpad taking up the majority of the front casing.

There's no optical drive, keeping things minimalistic, but expect a sleek aluminium one to be launched alongside.

The Macbook Pro-esque styling seems to confirm that that line, at least, isn't going to get a significant update this year, despite the fact the design is getting a little long in the tooth.

Look out for the official word in a couple of week's time, as Jobs unveils all to the faithful. µ

clearly a hoax

To the commenters: if you read the article it doubts the validity of the picture:

"The above photo may be the work of a PS junkie or it may just be the real thing."

a hoax?

look at the size of that pad and single button... no way is that practicle. i find the pad on my pro is bad enough for catching when typing, with that thing you will have no choice but to rest your wrists on the pad... i cant see apple making such a huge design floor to be honest.
