Toshiba starts selling LED lights for homes

Honda will make solar cells
Mon Jul 16 2007, 10:15
JAPANESE CONGLOMERATE Toshiba is to start selling LED lights for use at home.

Nikkei.net reported that its lighting division has already started selling the lights to commercial ventures, but has now cut the price of the products to around ¥20,000 (~$164).

That seems more than just a little tad expensive but Nikkei didn't say whether it was for a whole house rather than just one bulb. LED lights consume around a seventh the power of the incandescent variety.

The same wire also reports that Honda will compete with Sharp and Sanyo by gearing up a solar cell fab. Solar power is used a third of a million of Japanese homes. µ
