MARKET RESEARCH FIRM IDC said that its figures show that the exponential growth in external storage disk systems appears to be slowing.

It said that factory revenues for Q3 this year, grew by just over five per cent compared to the same quarter last year.

Revenues amount to $4.4 billion.

It still means 19 consecutive quarters of growth in the market however. EMC continued to be the winner, with 21.9 per cent share, with IBM and HP holding 14 per cent and 13.4 per cent respectively.

The other two in the top five are Dell and Hitachi, with 9.3 per cent and 9.5 per cent - Dell, however, had 17.9 per cent year over year revenue growth. µ
