A REPORT FROM CHIP analysts at Handelsbanken Capital Markets said that world chip sales to be released later this week will show that February was a strong month for semiconductors.

PC sales, in particular, are likely to show a sharp rise, the analysts said, because cuts Intel made in early February boosted the sales.

The analysts also predict that world sales of chips will rise by 18.5% in 2004 to reach $197 billion.

Consumer electronics sales continue to sell strongly, while flat screen TVs are aslo showing a surge.

Encouragingly, the analysts believe shipments of chips in the US rose - sales in the country havebeen flat for quite some time.
