MONITOR AND peripheral maker Viewsonic said that a €599 17-inch TFT-LCD monitor it has introduced today has a 16ms response time.

The VG170m includes dual bezel integrated speakers and it claims could be used as a high res TV by connecting to a DVD player, a console, a VCR or a digicam using a video processor it's just about to launch.

The base unit folds 90 degrees, has an AutoTune FM function for adjusting the image, supports SXGA natively at 1280 x 1024 pixels, has a brightness level of 280 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 450:1 and includes 140 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles.

Its dimensions are 415mm by 403mm by 229mm, and it comes with a three year warranty, Viewsonic said. The product is available through distributors and the price is a suggested price, rather than the street price you might pay. µ
