LEADING BRITISH IT services company, LogicaCMG, is to acquire its opposite number in Sweden - WM-data, for around £882 million. And in doing so should also acquire Nokia as a client.

While WM-data has a number of prestigious clients - such as Saab and Nokia, it still only has about eight per cent of the total Nordic market. Nonetheless it should put LogicaCMG up there with the Big Boys like CapGemini, IBM, and Atos Origin.

Some observers have already suggested that LogicaCMG should divest itself of wireless division which serves mobile phone operators because it ain´t making enough dosh.

The INQ has an alternative suggestion. If LogicaCMG has Nokia as one of its clients, then what happens when it is advising a mobile phone operator? Could it do anything other than recommend Nokia?

Sounds a tad like a conflict of interest. µ
