Dell users get hump over new notebook spec

Review model has 7200RPM hard drive, one for sale doesn't

PEOPLE CONTEMPLATING buying the Inspiron 8600 Dell Centrino machine which the firm announced in the US last week are asking exactly why they're not going to get a 7200RPM hard drive if they spend their hard earned cash at Mikey's Outfit.

The Centrino 8600 is touted by Dell as a desktop replacement notebook and while the press release simply mentions 40GB, 60GB and 80GB drives, a review on a hardware site gives the machine a great write up although that machine has a 7200RPM drive rather than the bog standard machines up for sale.

Users on the forum wonder exactly what Dell's up to with this machine, with a 4500RPM drive a huge bottleneck, it's claimed.

And an article in British magazine PC Pro, suggests there may still be something of a problem with Dell notebook keyboards, with Ross Burridge suggesting it's an uninspiring build.

What's good is that the US model appears to be shipping with an Nvidia FX5650, a flavour of graphics that's reckoned to be superior to ATI's Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro. ยต
