Zune overtakes iPlod on Amazon

Ballmer's brick in the fast lane
Wednesday, 21 November 2007, 09:05

MICROSOFT'S challenge to Apple's Iplod, the Zune, has actually overtaken its rival on the Amazon website.

Valleywag has spotted that the top place for a digital media player on Amazon is no longer held by a toy maker with a fruit theme. Instead it has been taken by a player made by a small outfit called Microsoft which no one has heard of.

The prize winner was Vole's 30-gigabyte $134 Zune held the number one spot, followed by the Ipod Nano and Apple's 80GB Iplod.

Microsoft might have been able to give Apple a good kicking on the 80GB machine if it had made enough to stick on Amazon. Apparently the 80 GB machines will not be around until early December.

With all its wi-fi functionality it looks like Zune might give the Apple machine a run for its money. [That's enough heresy. Ed]

Zune 30

I bought my brown Zune 30 recently, because I don't like the design of the new Zunes, and I like the brown colour. =P

I love it, and the new firmware and desktop software are a vast improvement over the old stuff. Wireless sync is the best thing ever.

I bet half the people buying Zunes now are those that have broken several iPods...

I don’t believe this

Ok so its gone from one a**h*le company to another, have any of these idiot consumers ever heard of iRiver, Creative, mobiBLU, Samsung (screw Sony), Sumvision, Sandisk, iAudio!?!

Its just f***ing typical that consumers would hand over their cash to DRM touting a**w*pes!

I do hope they realise...

I do hope they realise that those reported best sellers are from the previous hour, not overall. Microsoft can get happy about their heavily discounted DRM filled brick outselling the Ipod if they want but i still say buy Creative if you want the good stuff. If only Creative would get off their ass and actually promote their product they would crush Apple and Microsoft in the mp3 market.

Return after holidays

How many of these Zunes are holiday presents that will be returned once the person sees it's not an iPod?

The facts about Zune

MS is dumping the Zune30 at -100$. They are simply selling them under the price.

The Zune80 is very hard to find as MS is going for the iPod nano 4/8Gb market first....

Apple is expected to sell 25.000.000 iPods this quater, so good luck MS. Hopeless...

ugggh mor ipod zombies

Sounds like a bunch of Apple fanboys on here. Just be patient the time will come. MS is great at this. Look at windows, Look at the Xbox, if these models show anything, folks should see that MS is in it for the long run.
