JAPANESE MANUFACTURER Pioneer said it will sue Samsung SDI in Texas, alleging it has infringed patents relating to plasma display panels (PDPs).

Pioneer wants damages for past infringements, as well as a court order stopping sales of Samsung plasma displays.

The firm said it had been in negotiations with Samsung since April last year but has now decided it will have to go to court to establish its rights over patents 5,182,489 and 5,640,068. µ
