WHEN WE WROTE about Creative's PCIe effort, we skipped one small fact. That is that Creative is already selling PCIe sound cards, as our readers have pointed out.

As you can see for yourself, the board that is being sold here features the CA0110-IBG sound-chip. However, our story focused on Creative's efforts in developing a new version of a fully-fledged X-Fi card.

SoundBlaster Gamer X-Fi Extreme Audio PCI-e is the full name of the board our readers are referring to us...

The fully-fledged X-Fi comes with CA20K1-PAG Audio Processing Unit. The card currently on sale is actually a value card, based on the very same chip that powers ExpressCard X-Fi board.

Creative engineers are currently working hard on getting things done for August timeframe with the real, hard-core CA20K-PAG X-Fi chip. µ
