Students make Firefox toolbar for Ebay

Embarrass Ebay developers
Wednesday, 16 May 2007, 08:34
STUDES AT Stanford University were so impatient with Ebay for failing to come up with a promised Firefox toolbar that they invented one for themselves.

The toolbar "myEBayFox" has basic search features, removes external ads on the site and allows users to see thumbnail pictures on all search items, even those that sellers didn't pay for. It has been released under an Open Sauce licence.

Users have been trying to get Ebay to build a Firefox toolbar for yonks and the developer programme listed one being in the pipeline.

They cannot be too happy about the release of the Stanford toolbar either as it removes all the advertising revenue that Ebay would get from a sale.

Still, if Ebay had moved a little faster to satisfy a clear customer demand they wouldn't be in this mess.
