Zune aims for Iphone market

Ballmer gives it the nod
Friday, 3 October 2008, 10:09

MICROSOFT BOSS Steve Ballmer bellowed something incoherent about his company planning to release a phone version of the Zune at a keynote speech in London yesterday.

Ballmer seems to suggest that, instead of releasing the hardware, like Apple did, Microsoft will look at sticking Zune functionality into Mobile Windows software.

Ballmer whispered that Vole built the Zune hardware with the Zune software and he wanted to see the software component ported to the PC and Windows Mobile devices.

A spokesvole added that Microsoft had always said that software and services is a key focal point for Zune and it does make sense to extend the "Zune experience" to other devices.

Quite what the Zune experience was we can only guess. It is probably the lonely experience of using a device which is not trendy and you cannot show off to your friends, but at least is not as stupid as running Itunes and thinking that it is good. ยต

zune

It's nice to have a piece of equipment that actually works the way you want it to, even if it's not something that people recognize because it's trendy.

I still don't see anything good at combining Windows Mobile with the Zune interface, considering the amount of resources it would burn up for no reason. It's understood that it would be a conflict with other phone makers that use the OS, but it's still not the greatest idea to mix the two.
