Apple goes all coy about its iPhone CPU

It's not Intel Inside. But who cares?
Wednesday, 10 January 2007, 19:59
APPLE BANS the INQ from press conferences, never replies to emails, and in general behaves as if it was a cock crowing on a dunghill, the emperor of all it surveys.

So it comes as no surprise to us that even an august body like Reuters can't get a straight answer to a straight question about what or rather which chip is inside the Cisco Apple iPhone.

The august organisation has talked to the 'ever so 'umble Intel which has confirmed its chips are not inside said telephone.

Do you care which chips are running your automobile or car as we call it in Blightyland?

Basically, it's weird Apple is being coy. No one cares about the chips inside mobile phones, nor have they ever. And now no one really cares about the chips inside computers.

Apart, of course, from Intel, AMD, Texas Instruments and Nvidia. Good news that ARM just keeps on licensing its tech, in a fabless model that no other can match.

Won't be long until someone just goes and buys an iPhone and takes it apart, will it? So not really much reason to be coy. ยต

L'INQ
Routers, sorry it's pronounced Reuters
