A BLOKE in the Land of the Free has injected an RFID chip into his hand using supplies bought on the internet.
The bloke, who goes by the handle of Quethe, posted his adventure on YouTube in a fairly scary video if you don't like needles much.
He said that the tag is readable from up to two inches from his hand.
The big idea was that Quethe had a problem. In the dead of night he would be reaching for his gun and he wanted to open his weapon safe without having to fumble in the dark for buttons or codes. After all it is his constitutional right to play around with guns in the darkness.
Quethe went out of his way to point out that RFID tags implanted in his hand did not mean he was installing the "Mark of the Beast" from the Book of Revelation.
For those of you who have not read John of Patmos's best seller, it warns that installing the 'mark of the beast' in your hand or forehead makes you a disciple of the anti-christ who goes by the number 616. This was later upgraded to 666 thanks to a typo.
Quethe said people who translate Revelation that literally should exploring the ocean for a giant monster. He said that the right hand is the action hand which is a symbol of our works and the forehead is our mind and a symbol of our faith and thoughts. The right hand is also apparently our gun hand. Quethe said that RFID is old hat and er dead handy.
While we applaud a born again Christian's intelligent interpretation of the Book of Revelation, we wish Quethe had applied the same interpretation skills to the US constitution. The so called "right to bear arms" clause is clearly allowing the former UK colonists to form their own militias, which was something they were forbidden to do by the British.
Still it is nice to see that technology can help children of a loving god draw their weapons faster in the dark, we assume so that they can turn the othe r cheek faster on night-time intruders. µ

Go, man! Make Kevin Warwick proud.
Wrong Nickie. There was a recent Supreme Court decision that affirmed that "right to bear arms" applies to an individual American's right to own firearms for personal protection.

It's amusing when you Europeons try to apply your silly marxist philosophies to us. Keep it over there, we have no need for it here.
"The so called "right to bear arms" clause is clearly allowing the former UK colonists to form their own militias, which was something they were forbidden to do by the British."

If we obeyed the British, we wouldn't be! Nor a great amount of good music, cool cars, action movies, the most freedom the world has seen yet (even just the concept encourages). We have our share of freaks, but that's a small price. I'll keep my guns thank you, it's darn near a duty at this point. The safest towns to walk in are ones where everyone has guns, and criminals know it :P
(big issue this election here)
Besides, Brits know, people will just turn to knives, and old ladies with a knife don't stand a chance against a young thug, let her have a gun and even it up:)
You do remember that, during Victorian times, it was fairly common for law-abiding gentlemen in London to carry concealed handguns perfectly legally, and the per-capita gun murder rate was comparable to modern-day London's?

The initial rationale for banning handguns was to prevent anarchists and republican Irish from shooting people, and at some point it became an element of Britishness..

BTW, in the US, the National Rifle Association is second only to the AARP as far as citizen lobbies go, and even the pinkest constitutional scholars these days are seeing the 2nd Amendment as an individual right (they think that it should be amended away).

As a constitutional scholar, you're a fairly decent tech journalist...
Sorry, but the USSC ruled earlier this year that the 2nd Amendment is not restricted to militias (Google the DC gun ban). Besides, militias were never banned until we started pointing our muskets at British soldiers instead of at Indians and Frenchmen.
For many years people have argued about whether the US constitution's second amendment was aimed at providing malitias for national defense, or individual arms for personal self defense. The Supreme Court recently ruled in the Heller vs Washington DC case that the intent of the second amendment is to acknowledge (not grant) that individuals have a right to defend themselves from assault, and to equip themselves with firearms for this purpose.
The imperial dream belongs to the Americans now. Move along, Brits.
...cheeky commentary from a resident of the nanny state that is about a year away from making illegal the act of closing one's hand, lest it be used to pummel someone. Heaven forbid. In two years you'll all be subjected to mandatory knuckle-ectomies.

Meanwhile, even people who aren't paranoid schizos are starting to think that the 'States are ready for another revolution. That could be a tough sell if all the sheeple have are butter knives and umbrellas. But that's a whole other ball o' wax. Luckily the Bush regimes have been firearm -friendly...
Why do Europeans just hate freedom that much?

(at least we bavarians have our own manufacturer of ar15's)
you're saying that when he opens the safe with his RIGHT hand he can open the safe door without doing the combo? So he's a lefty shooter then? Damn leftys. I'd give my right hand to be ambydextrous.
(Personally I'd arm my Dalek robot with the gun, and its cool because hes got artificial intellegence)
If the darn Amurricaaanns had just obeyed the British, contrary to Vinster's comment above, you would in fact still be.

... And the thing you would be is Canada, or something very similar.

You know ... that crazy country that has proper banking regulations, that didn't trigger the global financial crisis by stupidly allowing banks to issue mortgages to millions of people that didnt have sufficient income to support the mortgage.

The crazy country that has universal health care, a longer life expectancy, a very low murder rate, a federal budget that has been in surplus for 11 years straight.

A country that had the balls to NOT invade Iraq when your idiot president lied about WMD's and the false connection between Iraq and 911.

And you'd still have your guns, we have just as many per capita as you do ... we just don't live in fear, killing each other with them whenever someone sneezes.

What a horrible world it would be if you had just obeyed the British huh?
Hey Nick,

People over here are always trying to reinterpret what the amendment says without even considering why it was put there:

The country was founded by separatists revolt.

So we get a constitution that expressly provides its citizens the tools to revolt again. In order to do that, individuals must form their own militias. And that means individuals must have the ability to own guns.
Some people are just jealous their government does let them protect themselves. Criminals/thugs don't care about gun laws, funny thing is that a lot of times don’t even know how to properly handle them. I believe that responsible/sane citizen’s should educate them selves and learn how to use one (properly), thats what I call evening up the odds!

Here are some quotes for your liking.

"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. If I have a gun, what do I have to be paranoid about?" -Clint Smith

"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the
crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess."

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing armed thugs, I AM inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

Bear arms as long as bears arm
for you are your own sovereign autonomous collective, and what may if some watery tart or tatery wart threw a sword at you! Did you see him repressing me? You saw it, didn't you?
I have his prints, but it is he who intends to go on this fishing expedition. Well, I'll have him know that I do not conger.
anyways... where is my RFID reader? opening a combo gun case used to be hard, not anymore. You think hacking is a problem now, wait a few years. Then all these people will be broadcasting all thier info.

plus it facilitates the 'militant registry' They can easily track this guy now.

Now that he's not practicing opening his safe the hard way, when a robber shows up and his battery is dead on his safe he'll have no chance to open it.
What kind of limp wristed American is this guy?

Surely a real man would have his .45 under his pillow, or preferably on the pillow next to him.

(See 80s TV series Sledge Hammer! For instructions)
the yanks are butt hurt when they are pointed out how stupid their constitution and country is:

1)Your kids still shoot each other at schools. Way to go 2nd amendment!
2)Your citizens are mostly idiots. The only reason the system works is because a few smart people can manipulate the many. In Europe we spend most of our time arguing between smart people thats why we get nowhere fast. Still the point is the average yank has the IQ of a peanut.
3)Look at your president. See 2)
4)You got no healthcase. Awesome free country. You are free to live as long as you can afford it.
5)You copied democracy and you copied capitalism so why so smug? Your system and country is simply a copy so how dare you claim you are better? You do not even have a real democracy, you only use the same bad copy version as everyone else.
6) Nice economy. Say hi to China and Russia for me.
7)Rednecks much? See 2)
8)Liars much? See Bush.
9)Criminals much? See Bush
10) Uneducated much? See Redneck, also see 2), also see Bush

Bonus stage

11)They think Europe is communist because we have public health care and benefits (this is one of my favs)
12)Geography skills (remember yank students in the UK leaving the country for fear Saddam will attack and we are too close to Iraq?) Also see 2)
13)RIAA
14)What exactly constitutes the American nation? Your citizens neither have common heritage, beliefs, religion or traditions. All you got in common is living in the same georgraphical region and that does not constitue a nation.
15)Microsoft
16)Steve Jobs
17)Steve Ballmer
18)Palin (say hi to the redneck from the north)
19)Rely on Russia for trips to space (so much for the space race eh?) You launch in 6 months eh? Oh, if the weather is good and the stars aligned. Maybe in a year? Oh, still cant carry as much payload as the Energeia of the Russians.
20)2nd Amendment... Do you really need a canon/machinegun/sniper rifle to protect yourself? A handgun isn't enough? Why allow all types of weapons and not just a specific caliber of handguns?

Anyway, the stupidity is endless and there is similar stupidity in other countries but USA takes the cake hands down.
This stunt is a Psycological case of "Attention Seeking Behaviour" he could have just get himself RFID finger ring, wrist watch or both.
You now got all the gun nuts now having a go at ya Nick.

Get over yourself yanks, your country is a joke. And if guns helped so much for keeping crime down, why do you have one of the largest prison populations in the world? it's one of the most brutal places anyone can visit in the "civilised world".

The whole gun argument is retarded like many american things, what will you apply it to next? grenade launchers? bombs? "this person has access to bombs... lets legalise them so we can all protect outselfs! YEEHAW! WOR! OIL!"
Stupidity is pretty much a universal human trait, and America certainly doesn’t have a mortgage on it... there are more than enough idiots to proudly represent Britain in that contest - just look at any Football match (or comments on the Inq - and yes, I'm aware of the irony) if you need examples.

For mine, the biggest mistake the American founding fathers made was to invest their head of state with a raft of powers, that the Brits (for once) were actually smart enough to remove from theirs.
I find the number of people who go out of their way to remind everyone of the RECENT Supreme Court decision on the 2nd amendment to be quite entertaining.
Here we are, talking about a legal document more than 200 years old and the meaning of a part of it, and all you have to add is a judicial decision that can easily be reversed and is not even 50 years old.
What you are saying has nothing to do with the original meaning of the text, it just outlines the ACTUAL meaning of the text, as funded by the NRA.

Apples and oranges, people.
"We have our share of freaks, but that's a small price" : Vinster

Parents loosing kids to stray bullets are not a small price just cause the victims are small.
Google Results 1 - 10 of about 377,000 for child injured by stray bullet. (0.28 seconds)

"The safest towns to walk in are ones where everyone has guns, and criminals know it :P ": Vinster

Thats unusual, since everyone in that town is a danger to each other. That just means that the who ever has the biggest guns has the advantage. Who usually has the biggest gun? If you have a gun, you should be shot. If i go around cooking meth, would anyone be surprised if i blew upr?
If I break into his house remind me to cut off his arm first!

Try to get into that safe now buddy!

To the Angry Brits,

Bush is a criminal, I didn't vote for him, nothing I can do to get rid of him, I supported removing him, it fell through. So what? Health care, yep we have greedy companies, they run the health care industry, most of the media, poison our food with FDA approval, and bribe our statesmen. I'm not knocking your country, but I do appreciate what we have, opportunity. I think some of the guys replied well enough as to why we like the right to own.
The main problem with people in the US right now is that they grew up on bad TV, parents working for material things not raising their children some times. Now the cost of living is so high both parents work to keep a home, even less raising children now. I like Brazil, tight families, like we used to have. They have their problems too, but life goes on.
Don't be so angry, I like my opportunities and hope you like yours.
1) nucular...
2)WMD
3)"Thank you, your Holiness. Awesome speech." - George W. Bush, to Pope Benedict
4)Kissinger's plan (land of freedom and justice...)

"Get over yourself yanks, your country is a joke. And if guns helped so much for keeping crime down, why do you have one of the largest prison populations in the world?"

Maybe it's because we lock up some of the child molesters that visit this website and that would otherwise be free in "other places". If you wonder why so many people are in jail in the states, well just come on over here and do something stupid and try to get away with it, the cops here don't play they'll catch you and stick you in jail no matter what you do.

I think that some of you are also pissed off due to the fact that a bunch of farmers made your Royal Army retreat from their land by using what ever they had on hand. One thing is for sure, countries rise and fall but America is not for the taking, there are too many brave people here for that. We don't lose sleep over here, wondering if somebody is going to come into our houses, or our homeland and take what’s ours, that’s reserved for other people in other countries that are afraid of the "new citizen's walking around your countries" and you all know what I mean.
It's really easy to make judgements on stuff you don't know much about.

The kids don't shoot each other. One sniveling ass sneaks a weapon in and shoots at everything not smart enough to duck.

Bush does not have the IQ of a peanut. That is giving him way too much credit! Go red states {cough}...

Yep, the US has a shamefully huge prison populace. Thank the Rockefeller drug laws for that lunacy. Look it up.

RIAA? Yeah, true, except the US also has fair use laws. Well, sort of {sigh}...

Please go look up "nation" rather than insisting on a myopic interpretation that supports your solitary opinion. Yes, definitions change with time, or perhaps we should all be speaking Latin.

Whoever has the biggest guns has an advantage? Perhaps that's the best reason not to let Big Brother dictate calibre for us. For example, how nice of them to let us plink away at an attacker with a target .22 - after retrieving it from the safe and loading it - while the criminal fires his illegally obtained .45, eh?

Everyone is a danger to each other? Hmm, where have I heard that before, oh yeah, Mutual Assured Destruction. It's a great deterrent on ANY scale.

Since I'm just picking the low-hanging fruit I can't close this post without bringing up Frank's "You got no healthcase." Don't call Yanks stupid or idiotic until you can learn to compose a sentence and to spell.
>>>big issue this election here

Because Obama like the Clintons have no intention of removing firearms from individuals.

McCain may seem 'pro-gun' but his personal beliefs are not for gun owners, but the American military in a structured setting.

McCain (like Bush) would be more likely to round up guns if there was ever a serious threat and breakout of marshall law (as witnessed by the Executive statements signed by Bush).

So right wing gun nuts in the US, if you vote for McCain you are risking your personal gun rights.

Yes I am a member of the NRA and they have moved from protecting gun owners, to protecting gun companies , and now to protecting their lobbying interests which are pro-private military(Think Blackwater suppliers), with no regard for personal gun rights.

For Example: (S&W safetly lock backlash was about company allegiance, not their anti-support of providing safety locks, which is a bit insane anyway.)

If you want to keep personal gun possession, Obama is the safe vote in the US this year. McCain's military record is at the heart of his views of government and corporate weaponization, and against personal gun ownership freedoms.
What do you want in the way of government?
Nobody in the states would have a problem if 51 percent of the populace voted for a ban on handguns (which is not going to happen) but we would be impeaching any elected official that tried to ban handguns against our will.

Your bunch of wiener-waggers could ban sporks for God's sake and you couldn't do a damn thing about it.

Which is to say; ya'll don't have a Democracy (even a Republic form of same) and haven't had for quite a while. You have lost it; it is gone; it is not coming back so quit whining that some one else (the USA) has something you don't.

I mean it would be one thing if your vote didn't mean dick; quite another if you don't even get to vote on things.
For some one to know what this chip could mean via the bible and still inject it in his arm reguardless of the reason isn't very smart.....

You can be tracked via that chip any where in this world right now! you will never have any privacy, wether it is in your house or half way across the world.... gun nut? or just a nut? that is the question...
You all are crazy!! This man just might haveb given himself the mark of the beast and all you care about is that he has a gun and that he is from Britain. Well I care about his soul and hope that this chip is not the mark of the beast because if it is than he just gave himself to satan and has no hope for salvation. Think about it and read the book of Revelations.
