YOU MIGHT WANT TO check outside of your window for a Hell-like freezing: gameplay footage of Duke Nukem Forever has been spotted on the internet.
Jace Hall - former executive at Monolith Studios and now games industry video blogger - took his camera down to see Broussard and co. at 3D Realms and managed to persuade the guys there into not just giving him a whirl on the latest build of the shooter but allowing him to film it on camera, too.
The game itself looks pretty polished with some neat graphics and a slick interface. The game itself, however, does look a little boring - in an age of in-depth exploration and FPS action, the old Duke blast-and-run formula seems a little tired, especially since Serious Sam has done just that in three iterations since Duke last appeared.
But regardless, merely getting a glimpse of the fabled game is enough to keep fanbois drooling, so here's a link for those who just can't wait to come get some. µ
Compare DNF to Halo 2. Halo was a great game and I had a lot of fun with it on PC. Then they announced Halo 2 - for console only.
Bugger, I will never have a console. I hoped that the console-only thing would be just a gimmick, and that we'd get Halo 2 on PC six months after or something, but no, it took them over 2 years to port it to PC - by which time I just lost interest.
I've dropped the Halo franchise for a mere 2-year delay, who thinks I'll buy DNF after over a decade of wait ?
Especially if all they could do with it was the stuff that was old six years ago. Take gun, pick up bonus, move forward, mow down enemies, repeat ad nauseam.
Frankly, for anyone to still do that after Half-Life and think they can make a winner is something that just boggles the mind.
Duke was lots of fun - when I was 16. I'm not expecting anything of it now. Unless, of course, DNF brings groundbreaking novelties such as, uh, x-ray glasses to detect enemies through walls, grip-all boots to walk on walls and ceilings, and translocator units to jump behind an enemy to better slay it.
Along with a strong storyline with lots of chicks in stockings.
If DNF has all that, I just might check out the demo.
I was positive they were waiting for Guns N Roses to finish the soundtrack...
Duke Nukem Forever should be renamed "Duke Nukem Lost Forever!"
they actually managed to put the bong down long enough to do any work?
To be very honest, I really can't be bothered with waiting for this game anymore. All those years ago, the trailer looked so damn promising, now the concept is a little bit "meh". The likelihood of me buying it when it is finally released is so low now.

Mate... it was announced 11 years ago.
Forever, Its not just the title, it the length of time it took to release the game.
The original Duke Nukem was a dog of a game. Blachhh.
Duke Nukem 3D was pretty good. I got about 1/4 through it before I lost interest. I still have it on the hard drive somewhere though.....
It had 867-5309 in the bathroom and it had a pool table you could jump on & scatter the balls. MDK was a pretty good game too but they made it "fun" to snipe the aliens with a head shot which is an extremely gruesome thing to consider.
I think I've outgrown this junk...
I hope it takes a long time to play the game since we'll have to wait another 10-12 years for the next sequel, Duke Nukem: Never. I became a dad in the time it took this sequel, I'll be a grandpa by the next one.
Showing some in game footage was nice, but I would have liked to see some people actually working on it! 3Drealms seems so quiet. I bet the cricket noises weren't even added sound effects.
always bet on Duke!
Next you'll be reporting that someone has stumbled across the lost city of Atlantis!

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to Duke Nukem Forever, assuming it comes out before I'm too old and senile to play it.

I really don't it's been delayed delayed delayed delayed was it announced about 3-4 years ago and it's still be developed.

With that time you'll expect it to be the best looking game for all consoles in the amount of time it's been under development.
They are going to wait too long to release it that they will have to use a new engine and redo the whole thing.
that's bad news.. I have lost a bet on this one, O_o
