See what GPGPU can really do

Acceleware hosts a webinar today
Wednesday, 28 November 2007, 16:58

WE HAVE BEEN following the progress of a small independent company called Acceleware for quite some time now.

Just like PeakStream, this company is riding the wave of hype for GPGPU computation.

A couple of days ago, the firm received three million dollars in a share buyout from Northwest. Nvidia is already an investor. This capital keeps the firm in private hands, with enough dough to continue developing new products.

At 13:00 EST today (17:00 UK time, 18:00 in Europe), Steve Joachims and David Hoff will host a webinar dedicated to explaining trends in GPGPU and how can you use a GPU chip to accelerate seismic processing.

64-bit GPGPU software

Check out www.manifold.net. This is an inexpensive desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) that runs in 32- or 64- bit, uses 32- or 64- bit CUDA if you've got it and works with all major Spatial databases (including the just released CTP5 of SQL Server a.k.a. Katmai).

Hardly stirred.

What I need is a GPGPU accelerated unrar utility.
Sometimes needs are simple, but service is hard to find.
