WORLD OF WARCRAFT FANS, the time is almost here – Wrath of the Lich King is set to hit the shops, be afraid.

That’s right, Blizzard Entertainment's hugely addictive role-playing game is about to release the second expansion pack which will be available in stores from 13 November.

Mike Morhaime, of Blizzard Entertainment said, "We're looking forward to launching Wrath of the Lich King and finally giving World of Warcraft players a chance to take on Arthas and his minions,"

WoW addicts have battles with the Lich King's undead army from the shores of Howling Fjord and Borean Tundra to the seat of his unholy power in Icecrown Glacier to look forward to, players will also be able to advance characters to level 80 and gain powerful new abilities while exploring several new zones and dungeons.

New features, such as an achievement system, expanded PvP combat options such as siege weapons and destructible buildings, and the game's first Hero class - the necromantic death knight will also be included in the new pack.

If you dare face the Wrath of the Lich King you can pick an expansion up for $40 or if you fancy the special collectors edition you’ll have to fork out a little more at £70.

Since launching in November 2004, World of Warcraft has become the world's most popular Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, nearly 11 million subscribers.

It will be interesting to see how the expansion fares with the release of EA's new rival game Warhammer: Age of Reckoning which is also going live this week – let battle commence. µ
