BRITISH FIRM M-Audio said it has started a consumer division with three of its products aimed at PC and Mac users.

And the firm has appointed tradeprice.co.uk as its first UK Internet partner to sell its audio products.

alt='sonicatheater'The products for sale include the £100 Sonica Theater, a device which plays DVD and music in 7.1 surround sound, and can be used to record and mix music. The product, pictured here, connects to machines using the USB port and includes speaker set up software and bass management. The Sonica, which costs a penny less than sixty quid, includes analogue and digital output connectors and includes TruSurround XT technology for playing DVDs or while you're hard at work with Unreal Tournament. It includes an optical connector to transmit Dolby Digital 5.1 DTS surround audio to suitable receivers, and will also download MP3 files for minidisk players.

Meanwhile, M-Audio also has a PCI card at £99 called the Revolution 7.1 which will output sound for up to seven speakers and a sub-woofer. The Revolution 7.1 carries eight channels of 192KHz audio at once and includes the Dolby Digital EX DVD player. µ
