The paper quotes a 'senior source' as saying that new chairman, Sir John Bond, has promised him the job within twelve months - "barring a major shock."
A Vodafone spokesperson officially denied the story.
The newspaper claims it revealed as long ago as January [2006] that Colao was set to rejoin his former employer. Mr Colao has been given the key job of sorting out Vodafone's European operations, after its former hit man - Bill Morrow - decided to jump a sinking ship and return to the USA for 'family reasons'.
So it looks like Arun Sarin - who 15 per cent of Vodafone's shareholders didn't back for re-election is very definitely in a tight spot. He needs to pull a rabbit out of a hat and restore the company's fortunes.

What is 3G being promoted for? Answer: Videocalling. What did people actually use ISDN for? Answer: Internet access and network backup. Funnily enough, 3G - thanks to HSDPA - can now supply both Internet access and network backup.
