For tiddly PCs
Wednesday, 10 January 2007, 16:40
CHIP MAKER AMD unveiled its plans for the DTX case layout design its proposes for tiddly PCs.

The firm said the design would take advantage of existing ATX infrastructure, including backward-compatibility. It promised to publish the specification in full soon.

Bob Brewer, an AMD corporate veep, said the DTX specification would help small systems to consume less power and generate less noise. When processor power consumption is reduced, system size and cooling costs can also go down, he pointed out. AMD thinks energy efficient processors can also extend the longevity of PCs.

The firm says the DTX specification will define a minimum set of parameters necessary for interoperability, and expects vendors to innovate around the design. ยต
