THE INTERVENTION of UK prime minister Tony Blair in the Manchester Cathedral video game affair appears to have woken up Sony Japan to the religious war that's been raging here in Blighty since last Saturday.

See Tony Blair ticks off Sony over Manchester affair.

Blair, whom Private Eye lampoons as the Reverend A.R.P. Blair of St Albion Parish, told an MP during Prime Minister's Questions today that Sony might perhaps have shown a little more sensitivity rather than have shootups happening in the backdrop to Manchester Cathedral. Manchester has something of a gun problem.

Associated Press talked to Sony in Japan and it has begun talks with the Bishop of Manchester "yesterday or today". Sony Japan apparently takes the church's complaints seriously. She says it's a complex matter because it's quite common for buildings to be used in entertainment. ยต
