BBC'S RADIO 4 is conducting one of its weird polls about who or what rules Britain. A team of pandits including the ex head of MI5, a former head of the TGWU, an ex hack called Will Hutton and a couple of others have "sifted through" the nominations and come up with 10 on the shortlist. It's inviting listeners to vote and decide the winner.

God-save-the-googleThe candidates are Jose M. Barroso, president of the €U; Terry Leahy from Tesco; Gordon Brown, the Scottish purse holder; Tony Blair, the exiting Prime Minister; Google Pagerank; Sir Gus O'Donnell, head of the British Mandarins; Rupert Murdoch from News Corp; the British Parliament; the British People [who they? Ed.]; and Shami Chakrabarti, the director of Liberty.

You can vote for a candidate by clicking here. µ
