THE BRITISH LIBRARY is collecting millions of emails in a bid to show future generations what we in the early 21st century were talking about.

Backed by Microsoft, the Library wants to collect a million emails for its archive. The big idea is to capture blunders, complaints, humour, romance and other topics.

John Tuck, the head of British Collections at the British Library, told the Telegraph that digital archiving of email on this scale has never been attempted before.

He says that it will capture a "rich slice of contemporary life". If you want to participate you should send an email to email@emailbritain.co.uk from their inbox or "sent" mail that represents your life.
