THE TWO BIGGEST Korean LCD panel makers have formed an alliance with scores of other local manufacturers in a bid to keep the Taiwanese and Japanese display wolves from the door.

According to nikkei.net, the two big boys are the leading members of a newly formed Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) and will source supplies and fund R&D to free themselves from buying components abroad.

The wire said the KDIA has already sketched out a road map for the next 10 years covering LCD, plasma and OEL technologies. ยต
