Croatians break HD2900XT's cover

Hardware Roundup World's first Terabyte drive reviewed in Canada
Wed May 09 2007, 03:17
A SITE RUN BY a former colleague of mine just broke out with a first review of R600, now know as Radeon HD2900XT. The site does not go in depth about the cards themselves, and some results turned out weirdly, as it was mentioned in their conclusion. Since they invested 100 or so hours in reviewing these monsters, it seems to us that they have the boards for quite some time.

Steven from Legion Hardware went down'n'dirty with Core 2 Duo's E4400, and managed to get a very good overclocking results. In case you did not knew, E4400 is nothing else but E6700 with half of L2 cache.

For AMD's side of things, head over to RBmods, to see the review of another el cheapo dual-core, this time in a form of Athlon 64 X2 3800+. But if you own a Wii, you might check what guys at RBmods really-really-really like: skins from DecalGirl, especially if they're in retro style.

Guys from TweakTown went on to review 4GB kit from Mushkin and pitched the review to explain why switching to 64-bit operating systems make sense. Sadly, their explanation that "only" 3.5GB of memory is addressable will fall on deaf ears of every user that found himself with 3.24, 2.75 or even 2.20 GB of usable memory. I only do not know why motherboards for desktops do not enable users to change their own settings when it comes to PCI addressing. Like server and workstation boards regularly do (both Tyan Thunder K8WS and Intel's V8 v1.0 boards support manual change of addressing space).

TechGage joined TweakTown in reviewing Mushkin's 4GB kit, so for their view head over here.

Hardware Canucks tested world's first shipping desktop drive with terabyte capacity from Hitachi. Under the name Deskstar 7K1000, this is a monster of sorts, and yours truly remembered that Hitachi was also working on fragmentation-free drive tech, which would be an interesting innovation, if it comes to life.

Bjorn3D reviewed a gamer's case, Antec Performance One P182. This upgrade of already popular P180 features some additional improvements, but we like the silicon feet the best. For absorbing vibrations produced by a case, you can't go wrong with this rather expensive add-on. Much there is to be said about the inside as well, so head on here and see would it suit you. If you think that this case is plain regular, you can always go to extreme and assemble an acrylic case like Sunbeam UFO Clear Acrylic Case over at Legit Reviews.

Guys from Legit also did some legit work, and review Albatron's GeForce 8600GTS video card. Their review numero 500 is scheduled for one of these days, we'll l'inq the guys when they celebrate 500th article.

Everything USB reviewed what else than a hardware component that plugs into an USB port. This time, Tritton Audio Xtreme 5.1 PC Gaming USB Headset with vibration feature came to make a round at that site. Interesting feature of USB headphones is the fact that they come with integrated sound chip.
