Console makers sued

Patent row of the day
Friday, 12 January 2007, 07:45
A TEXAS based outfit is suing Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony claiming that they nicked its patent for a "Low-Voltage Joystick Port Interface."

Fenner Investments has a patent on a port which interfaces a typical five volt joystick device with a computer.

Vole, Nintendo and Sony are "now engaging, and will in the future continue to engage, in unauthorized conduct and activities that violate" the patent, Fenner said.

It wants huge wodges of cash in compensation, punitive damages, attorney fees, and court costs.

However, although Fenner claims to hold the patent number 6,297,751 the design was developed by Lucent in 1998. According to CIO Today, Fenner might have acquired legal rights to the patent, but it is not saying how.

Fenner might be hoping that it will do better in this case than the last. It lost a lawsuit against Alcatel, Nokia, and Cisco in a patent case over wireless technology recently.

that link still is not running.. there is no real nvidiaclassaction.org.. I wish there was though because I would love to get in on it..

I have a list of emails I have sent their tech support going back for about a year now where they have not responded for months to my problems and made no effort to fix my specific issue..
