Game Boy to be killed off

NINTENDO has decided that after the success of the Nintendo DS it is finally time to slowly kill off the aging Game Boy.

Apparently it is not going to withdraw the family from sale yet.

Nintendo does not want to upset its Japanese market. However the boss said that there will be no more development work done on it.

Talking to Reuters, Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata said that it was a waste of resources developing a next generation of Game Boy Advance, considering the strong support DS is now has.

Game Boys appeared in 1989 and Nintendo flogged more than 120 million of them. Game Boy Color and the Game Boy Advance all did Nintendo proud although they were not as successful.

Last year's Game Boy Micro looked backward in comparison to what was already promised by the Nintendo DS and it could not play older games.
