Judge says Intel must produce foreign documents

The AMD case continues
Fri Dec 15 2006, 20:45
SPECIAL MASTER Vince Poppiti said Intel must produce documents containing evidence of alleged foreign misconduct.

Vince is the court's special master in the complicated antitrust case where AMD is pitting itself against Intel and claiming it has engaged in behaviour which has denied people choice when they want to buy CPUs.

AMD and a gaggle of class plaintiffs are suing Intel for alleged antitrust behaviour. Now the court, in the shape of His Honour Vince Poppiti, has decided, after all, that the microprocessor market is a global one. He is recommending Intel be compelled to produce allegations of foreign misbehaviour.

Around 68 per cent of CPUs made by Intel and AMD are sold outside United States' territories.

Poppiti reckons that Intel's alleged behaviour outside the US must be considered in the antitrust case.

The legal arguments will continue. µ
