THE LATEST SIS desktop roadmaps seen by the INQUIRER indicate that it is ready to start talking about how it will integrate PCI Express into its chipsets.

According to the roadmaps, SIS will launch an integrated graphics solution with PCI Express in the first quarter of next year, and add the super speed system to its south bridge about the same time too.

On the Intel front, SIS will release its 655TC during this quarter. This supports dual DDR 400, and AGP8X, and will go into mass production in August.

The 656 north bridge will support 800MHz Pentium 4 hyperthreading, dual DDR II, and PCI Express. The graphics (GFX) north bridge, dubbed the 656+GFX with PCI Express, will be pin compatible with previous members of the 65X family, and is slated for Q1 of next year.

SIS is preparing another chipset for the Athlon64/Opteron microprocessor, which will also support PCI Express, and it has a 756 plus graphics (GFX) planned for the first quarter next year.

It will have three AMD 64 offerings, the 756+964+180 and the 759+964 supporting PCI Express, and the AGP8X +964.

The 755/964 Hyperstreaming SIS offering will provide up to 1600MT/s "front side bus", eight USB 2.0 ports, 10/100 LAN, six channel AC97, two ATA133/100 and two Serial ATA 150 support, as well as having six PCI slots.

It's Athlon XP SIS 741/964 will support 400MHz and down front side buses, include integrated Real 256E graphics, have a digital video interface for TV and dual monitor support, two Serial ATA channels, two ATA-133 100 channels and six PCI slots. ยต
