FIGURES RELEASED by Jon Peddie Research show that Nvidia is closing the gap in the graphics market between it and Intel, while ATI-AMD showed clear signs of struggling.

Despite the fact that the calendar second quarter is usually a slow one for the entire industry, JPR said that Nvidia made "significant" gains, Intel and AMD saw typical results, but that on the desktop Nvidia at 43.5 per cent share trounced Chipzilla at 38.5 per cent.

Jon Peddie Research estimated that total shipments amounted to 81.3 million units worldwide in all sectors. It provided the table which we reproduce below.

For the notebook market, Intel continued to dominate, with 51.5 per cent of the market, while Nvidia has 27 per cent and AMD 21 per cent. This sector continues to grow, and represented 31.2 per cent of shipments amounting to 24.5 million units. µ
