Reader John Lahtinen attended the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) chip fair yesterday.
He said that reps from both chip companies were present, looking for the brightest and the bestest jobs going.
But, said John, he had to repress a chuckle.
"Students lined up in droves for a chance to speak with reps and hopefully sign on with AMD," he told the INQUIRER.
"Only a handful of desperate job-seekers peppered the Intel booth at any given time," he added.
The reasons for the disparity were not entirely clear, but the kids seemed to want to join AMD rather than the bigger Zilla, he said.
The news from RIT coincides with another report from old time Web site Yahoo.
It has published a league table of the busiest boards, and it looks like AMD is right up there, and full of "unusual activity".
You can find that report here. µ
