Sony Vaio Pentium M 770 gets rave review

AKIHABARA NEWS news checks the latest Sony Vaio, the FS90 A. Under the hood is a Pentium M 770 2.13GHz, a full GB of memory and a Geforce 6200 card. The screen is gorgeous as usual and a dual layer DVD writer is also provided. Unfortunately, it seems that it won't be sold in Europe.

CDfreaks reviews the LG GSA-5163D triple format DVD writer. While the DVDRAM format is no longer mainstream, it still has its afficionados. Its new DVD writer allows DVD RAM to be written at 5X while DVD+/-R get the usual 16x.

Overclockercafe tests the Kingwin Mini Shuttle External Enclosure, a cheap and cheerful component casing which will be useful to carry your hard disk around. It's made up of aluminium and is hence quite light.

The latest version of Linspire is on review at Phoronix. Depending where you're standing, it is either a bloody expensive version of Linux or a very attractively priced clone of Windows. The 5.0.59 version includes improved Security with a built in VPN and hundreds of other improvements.

Under the title XGI - Legends and Myths, Digitlife does an excellent job with an article highlighting the shortcomings and the product line shortfalls of XGI. At the same time they cover the XG47, which is the latest GPU from XGI and features RUMA technology which more or less mimics ATI HM and NVIDIA TC.

The Asus Star Ice CPU cooler ressembles a wind turbine and we've had a look at it some times back. PC Perspective checks it again and find some hidden surprises like the fact that it weighs 865g instead of the rated 680g.

French website PC Inpact chose to test the new Shuttle ST20G5 which features the new ATI Xpress 200 chipset which comes with a X300 graphic core. This SFF can accommodate three video outputs, has an alumiium finish and good gaming performance.
