Gigabyte takes Asus on with low rent mobos

Long time coming, now it's come

CHINESE WIRE Digitimes said that Gigabyte will finally introduce its low end range of motherboards this week.

But Gigabyte is being restrained with distribution, says the wire, restricting the range called Axper to the Asia Pacific region.

But only a bit restrained for a little while, because come the middle of June, it will release the boards into North America and Europe.

The firm is taking on Asustek, which has marketed its own low rent range, Asrock, for quite some time.

It's not entirely clear why Asus and Gigabyte, big boys in the mobo game, want to get into the little boy league. Perhaps it's because they can. ยต
