Skype announces four wi-fi Skype phones

VOIP GIANT Skype said four companies have created wi-fi phones to use without a PC.

The phones are from Belkin, Edgecore, Netgeat and SMC.

The machines will be available this quarter, and uses the familiar PC interface and also will hold Skype contacts.

The devices can be used with personal business or free public wi-fi networks that don't need browser authetnication, but support encryption protocols WEP, WPA and WPA2 with PSK support.

Edgecore said its phone will be out by the end of this month at a rather expensive €199 plus VAT. µ
