A BLOKE from Sony says his company will delay the launch of the first Blu-ray movies for a month. This isn't beacuse Sony isn't ready, it's because no-one else will be, he reckons.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment president Benjamin Feingold says he has a bunch of titles up his sleeve for the announced launch date of May 23rd. But since punters won't have anything to play them on, he's going to hold fire until June 20th.

"The majority of our retail base and hardware partners have requested that we reconsider this date to better coincide with the first commercially available Blu-ray-compatible hardware," Feingold told Reuters

Sony movies due on Blu-ray on June 20 include The Fifth Element, The Last Waltz, Hitch, Resident Evil Apocalypse, House of Flying Daggers, A Knight's Tale and summat called XXX. ยต
