ATI says it's sold 100 million phone chips

ATI CLAIMS it has sold over 100 million "cell phone media co-processors". This is the how the company likes to call its chips for handhelds.

We were reminded that ATI has more than thirty design wins with Motorola while Nvidia has one major one and a few little less attractive. Now ATI has Nokia the sky is the only limit.

We also learned that this is highly profitable market for ATI as the margins are really high. If you get a good design such as Motorola Razr V3 and the new V3i we are talking about millions of chips sold for those phones. ATI is inside of both Razr phones, the most successful Motorola. µ
