Sun puts a T1 on an FPGA

It even runs games
Sat Jun 02 2007, 12:38
SUN IS ABOUT to demo the most interesting thing to come out of it's opening up of the SPARC core to date, a T1 running on an FPGA.

The wild party that is the debut will take place at FCRC next week in San Diego. It will show off a SPARC T1 core on a Xilinx ML411 FPGA. It will have a single thread and virtualization capability, work with a Microblaze service processor, and has mapped peripherals.

Just to show its crazy side, it will be running a game on it, not Quake Wars, more towards text based games, but it is written in C. Even without 3D graphics, this is quite an achievement or the OpenSPARC guys. µ
