Frequent US international travellers can claim dosh back

Credit where credit cards were due

A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT means that any American who travelled a lot between 1996 and November 8th 2006 to foreign and possibly alien climes using well known credit cards can claim some money back.

If you're a European who travelled to America, we doubt there is any redress. There is a lot of argy-bargy about class actions and some have suggested they should be suspended from the neck until dead.

But, people who held Visa, Mastercard and other credit cards from the USA can get some money back because a settlement the parties have agreed to has decided that the class action, which alleged holders bunged some fees on top of the straight transaction, means you can get some money back.

The merchants deny legal liability, but the settlement details are here. µ

Summary

Without even reading the originating data, here is a summary:
You get a coupon or a few dollars if you are one of the wronged parties.
You get wheel barrows full of money if you were one of the lawyers.
