A SONY REPRESENTATIVE said no-one reads the INQUIRER in South America.

In an e-missive to our Argentinian correspondent Fernando Cassia, he said: "What is your readership in South and Central American markets? This questions [sic] may seem out of place in the era of globalization, but it is also the era of accountability and I have to justify the allocation of my resources to produce the best return on investment".

He told Cassia: "You write for a specialized English language publication that over 95% of my target audience cannot understand or even access".

But he sugared the bitter pill with a compliment. Or is it an insult? "The Inquirer UK is a fine publication and their articles balanced, but it may not be the best vehicle for Latin America, unless of course your readership in the region warrants it". µ
