Via confirms launch of AMD K8T800 Pro chipset

But where are the 939 chips?
Thu May 06 2004, 12:28
CHIPSET FIRM Via formally confirmed the existence of the K8T800 Pro chipset for the Athlon 64 today.

The Pro includes support for Athlon 64 and Athlon FX processors, and lets the AGP and PCI buses to be locked, allowing the front side bus to be clocked for better performance.

The chipset offers Hyper8 technology, which allows for a higher bandwidth Hypertransport link. It will also support the 939, 940 and 754 AMD sockets.

We asked an AMD representative when the 939 pin versions would be available. He said that he could not possibly comment on that.

We'll ask a few system integrators later on today and see if they are a tad more forthcoming.
