AMD's 690G debuts in reviews

HW Roundup Big Brother gets thumbs up

RYAN FROM PCPER got down and dirty with AMD's 690G chipset, which is the first new desktop chipset from this company in five years. We guess five year draughts are now a thing of the past. The INQ received an ASUS board, but Ryan has some sweet potential to get an HTPC setup with MSI K9AGM2 motherboard.

IT-Review.net reviewed a product which will not be in stores before tomorrow, eVGA's e-GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB ACS3. The folk at eVGA usually do a pretty good job with these ACS3 coolers, so it was interesting to see whetever they could cut something down in a cheaper version - or not. Given the price, they failed. If you are scratching your head on whether 320MB will be enough for the future, Nvidia has one hidden weapon in ita G80 chips: memory virtualisation.

The second eVGA review of the day is the e-GeForce 8800GTS 320MB SuperClocked, over at the home of people who forgot what their name means.

Motherboards (besides the 690G) kept a low profile today, with only Foxconn 975X and nForce 680i making an appearance on VR-Zone and HardwareZone. VR-Zone's take on the motherboard with a now elderly chipset is here, while HardwareZone went on to see how Foxconn changed a Northbridge cooler here.

BCCHardware reviewed an alternative way of cooling your Northbridge chip or chipset and Noctua Austria sent them its NC-U6 Northbridge cooler.

Bjorn3D stayed in the cooling zone and tested couple of fans from Bluegear. The exhaust fans aren't usually mentioned, but if they are not efficient enough, you can have best CPU and GPU coolers out there, your tin can will still serve as a oven for your components.

Saitek has an interesting competitor to Logitech's G15 keyboard under the name Eclipse II Illuminated Keyboard. It showed up at 3DXtreme.net, while techPowerUp!.com reviewed Pro Gamer Command Unit, or a posh name for left part of the keyboard gone ballistic.

Printers aren't often reviewed on hardware sites, but BIOSmagazine took over the flag today, reviewing Brother's MFC-845CW all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. We have to say that the list of features looks quite special, with multi-card reader, WiFi support, and 5.8GHz digital cordless handset tech...
